The Sustainable Electronics Manufacturing (SEM) Working Group promotes a new philosophy of embracing eco-friendly measures as an instrument of competitiveness in the electronics industry. Following the successful May 4 “Electronics Day” in Nuremberg on occasion of SMT Hybrid Packaging 2011, the debate continues in Milan on November 3, and Munich on November 17. Preregister by October 27 to join the SEM Working Group and participate in the November 3 “Electronics Day” being held on the occasion of Sustainability Summit Sessions 2011 in Milan. The SEM Working Group is an industry-wide initiative, involving all players in the electronics industry, key international publications, events and associations to support a radical change in the paradigms of electronics manufacturing in the direction of sustainability.

This upcoming event of the SEM Working Group follows the success of the May 4 “Electronics Day”, held on the occasion of SMT Hybrid Packaging 2011 in Nuremberg, where thought leadership from key experts of the electronics industry, brought discussions to a new level. In the words of Dr. Dongkai Shangguan, VP Technology and Engineering of Flextronics International and Board Member of the SEM Working Group, “the SEM Working Group’s objective is to foster collaborative work to define an industry roadmap that is focused, holistic, proactive, rational and actionable.”
As an industry-wide initiative, the SEM Working Group involves key international publications, events and associations to collaborate on and support a radical change in the paradigms of electronics manufacturing. It invites the players of the electronics industry to voluntarily embrace environment-friendly measures for the sake of driving the market while preserving the planet through sustainability. Among the media partners, journals, events and supporting organizations contributing to date: Sustainability Magazine, OnBoard Technology, EMSnow!, EE Times Europe, PLUS, PCB Magazine, Global Identification, ID WORLD, Sustainability Summit, SMT/Hybrid/Packaging, IMAPS (International Microelectronics & Packaging Society).
