Organic Photodetectors and Image Sensors, highly innovative products for new markets and applications, from industry, advertising, environment to consumer electronics
The organic electronics industry has been creating new materials for the organic photovoltaics products, attracted by high volume market opportunities. These materials can be used also for transforming light into information, and plastic and glass surfaces in sensors and smart surfaces able to interact with their environment . Organic printed electronics offer possibility for development of large area and high performances optical sensors and image sensors based on organic photodiodes printed on plastic and glass substrates. These new sensors offer unique properties (large sensing area, thin, light, flexible, transparent) for highly innovative product designs and concepts and technology usages. They offer also high performances (operation in visible and near infrared spectrum).
ISORG, a new start-up of CEA-LITEN Grenoble (Nanomaterials Department) was created in 2010 to design and industrialize this new generation of printed electronics sensors. A large range of applications and markets can be addressed thanks to this combination of performance, innovation and cost competitiveness : sensors for industry, environment, smart building, consumer electronics, toys and games, home appliances, safety and security, medical. These sensors can be combined with other printed electronics technologies such printed LED, electroluminescence, batteries, opening door for collaboration of product development with other organic industry players.
New innovative product concepts and applications will be demonstrated, illustrating highly attractive market opportunities for the organic electronics industry : sensors for user interfaces and interactive surfaces for advertising, consumer electronics, toys, packaging and home appliances.
The Magic Pad, product concept of 3D multimedia contactless tablet, developed by ISORG in collaboration with an industrial design company, will be exposed to demonstrate all these innovative functionalities enabled by the organic printed electronics (motion detection, proximity detection, character recognition, multimedia navigation, image capture, ambient light measurement, fluid monitoring for industry).
Another demonstrators of interactive surfaces will be also exposed.
Application and product roadmap will illustrate the fantastic opportunities for industry and consumer industries for innovation combining technology, design and new usages.
